Orphans is the second solo album by guitarist and Bowie/Iggy sidekick Kevin Armstrong. It was recorded at Wishing Tree studio in East Sussex between 2019 and 2026. No AI was used in the the writing, recording and mixing of this album, it is entirely the product of fallible human endeavour.

All instruments and vocals are by Kevin Armstrong except where otherwise indicated. All persons and events alluded to in the songs are fictional creations based on real people and real events.

Much gratitude and respect is due to outstanding musical contributions from Thomas Dolby, Karl Wallinger, Mat Hector, Clifford Slapper and Gregory Heath.

Kevin’s continues to play live, (most recently on tour with Carlos Alomar’s DAM trilogy) and performs a one-man show to promote his autobiography Absolute Beginner.

“What’s important is the quality of the songs” says Kevin. “The guitar is my day job but these are my dreams”

'Kevin does what I pretend to do. Kevin’s a proper musician.’  - David Bowie

Absolute Beginner is the story of what it takes to survive as a self-taught musician. It provides an honest and funny glimpse into the backstage world of the artists Kevin has worked with, and is packed with acerbic,

laugh-out-loud observations on popular music and musicians from someone who has had a prime seat at the high table of rock’n’roll for more than forty years.
